Springs Valley League HOF exhibit

A new exhibit at the Indiana Baseball Hall of Fame in Jasper honors Negro League pioneers the French Lick Plutos and West Baden Sprudels.

JASPER — Director Ray Howard, of the Indiana Baseball Hall of Fame located at 851 College Ave. in Jasper has announced the Hall will honor the African American teams sponsored by the West Baden Springs and French Lick Springs Hotels. The Hall has created an exhibit honoring thirteen former players

As early as 1895, the hotel-sponsored clubs, named for their respective hotel’s commercially bottled mineral waters and consisting of Black service employees, began competing against each other as entertainment for the resorts’ guests.
